- Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage won with 88.14 metres on his third attempt, edging Chopra by just nine centimetres.
- Anderson Peters of Grenada finished third with a best throw of 86.69 metres in the men's javelin competition.
- This was the third time in 2026 that Pathirage finished above Chopra, after beating him at the Commonwealth Games.
