North Korea is blamed for the largest crypto hack in history, drained in 20 minutes
- • About $6.36 billion in crypto was drained from Binance wallets on Thursday, most of it in around 20 minutes.
- Blockchain firms TRM Labs and Chainalysis say North Korea was behind it. Pyongyang has denied such claims before.
- Binance says a compromised engineer’s laptop gave the attacker access. Around $3 billion has been frozen.
- It is the largest crypto theft on record, ahead of the $1.5 billion Bybit hack in February 2025.
