Old Monk to be labelled ‘rum-flavoured spirit’, FSSAI tells court
- FSSAI told the Bombay High Court on September 3 that Old Monk should be classified as a rum-flavoured spirit.
- The regulator said the product uses neutral spirit and rum flavouring, so it does not meet the standard definition of rum.
- The company submitted revised labels after agreeing to remove “7 years old blended,” which FSSAI will now review.
