RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said in Delhi on Friday that high inflation hurts everyone like a tax.
Minutes released on Wednesday showed the rate panel voted unanimously to raise the repo rate by 0.25 points.
September retail inflation rose to 5.54% on food prices, still within the RBI’s 2-6% tolerance band.
Malhotra said growth is resilient, with GDP up 7.8% in the first quarter of FY27.
