Rs 11 IV set sold for Rs 325, Maharashtra FDA chief Tukaram seeks Centre’s intervention
- Maharashtra's Food and Drugs Administration FDA survey found an IV set costing Rs 11 sold for Rs 325, a 2,841% mark-up.
- Other items showed similar gaps, including a Rs 40 nebuliser mask billed at Rs 715, an 1,687% mark-up.
- FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe called the mark-ups "irrational" and wrote to the Centre seeking intervention.
- Mundhe sought to bring hospital consumables under the Drugs Prices Control Order, 2013, to cap trade margins.
