Supreme Court orders Railways to insure counter-booked tickets from October 27
- The Supreme Court has directed the Railways to extend insurance cover to tickets bought at reservation counters from 27 October.
- The facility is currently available only to passengers who book online and pay a small extra amount.
- The court said this matters most for poorer passengers, who usually buy their tickets at the counter.
- It warned that the Railway Board will be held directly responsible if the direction is not carried out.
