- Suvendu Adhikari said his government would protect cows and jail people who insult monks and religious leaders.
- He made the remarks at a Bhagavad Gita recital attended by around 11,000 people in Kolkata on September 27.
- He urged people to freely recite and distribute the Bhagavad Gita and Hanuman Chalisa across West Bengal.
- Adhikari referred to the burning of Bageshwar Baba’s effigies and said his government had taken action against those involved.
