Texas judge rules TikTok misled users about child safety features
- A Texas judge ruled TikTok violated state consumer laws by misleading users about its child-safety measures.
- The ruling found TikTok’s “Restricted Mode” did not work as advertised and exposed minors to content meant to be filtered.
- TikTok had said it would remove content violating its rules, but some posts were instead marked internally as “hard to find.”
- The case will now go to trial, where penalties and other remedies could be decided, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office said.
