Three detained in Bengal as Odisha probes orangutan smuggling
- Odisha STF detained three people from a hotel in Digha, West Bengal, while probing the movement of five rescued orangutans.
- The five orangutans were found in a forest in Odisha’s Balasore district and later shifted to Nandankanan Zoo in Bhubaneswar.
- Investigators are trying to trace the animals’ origin, route to Odisha and those involved in transporting them, amid suspected wildlife trafficking.
- The STF is also examining a black SUV reportedly linked to the Digha hotel as part of the investigation.
