TN to raise women’s share in police force to 30% with 5,000 new hires
- Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay announced plans to create 29,108 police posts over five years, on September 3.
- The state will recruit 10,000 police personnel in 2026, including 5,000 women officers.
- Women’s representation in the police force will be increased from 22% to 30% through new recruitment.
- The government also allocated ₹212 crore for police modernisation, including technology and surveillance upgrades.
