Two chess players among 17 named for the Arjuna Award
- The National Sports Awards were announced on August 18. Grandmasters Divya Deshmukh and Vidit Gujrathi are among 17 named.
- Divya, 20, from Nagpur, became the first Indian woman to win the FIDE Women's World Cup in 2025, beating Koneru Humpy in the final.
- That win also made her a Grandmaster, India's fourth woman and 88th overall. Vidit, 31, from Nashik has been a Grandmaster since 2013 and won double gold at the Chess Olympiad.
