WHO approves India’s first homegrown HPV vaccine Cervavac for UN procurement
- India's first homegrown vaccine against the Human Papillomavirus, Cervavac, has won World Health Organisation approval.
- The approval lets United Nations agencies buy the Serum Institute vaccine, its 32nd product to clear this bar.
- It protects girls and boys aged nine to 26 against cervical, anal and other cancers, plus genital warts.
- Those aged nine to 14 need two doses, while people from 15 to 26 years require three doses.
