YSR’s welfare legacy continues to be remembered 17 years after his death
- September 2 marks the 17th death anniversary of former Andhra Pradesh CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy YSR.
- YSR served as the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh from 2004 to 2009 and led Congress to power in 2004.
- His tenure was known for welfare schemes including free electricity for farmers, Aarogyasri, fee reimbursement and housing for the poor.
- YSR died in a helicopter crash in the Nallamala forests on September 2, 2009, along with four others.
