- The embryo was frozen in 2004 after Rapti-Tzelepi and her husband, Constantinos Raptis, underwent IVF.
- They had kept the remaining embryos after having their son, Giorgos, who died in a road accident aged 21.
- Months after his death, the couple chose to use the embryo, with Greece’s IVF age limit leaving little time.
