Anti-rabies vaccine Abhayrab batch fails test, raises counterfeit concerns
- A batch of Abhayrab, a widely used anti-rabies vaccine, failed a potency test and was declared substandard.
- The affected batch, KE25012, was traced to an unlicensed residential flat in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi.
- Indian Immunologicals, Abhayrab’s manufacturer, said the seized vials were not made by the company, raising counterfeit concerns.
- Four people have been arrested, while drug regulators have alerted states to monitor the affected batch.
