Army and Air Force to order 200 HAL light utility helicopters in Rs 20,000 crore project

The Army and Air Force will order about 200 Light Utility Helicopters from HAL, defence officials said.
HAL has built 12 so far with 187 more in the pipeline, in a project worth over Rs 20,000 crore.
The helicopters replace the ageing Cheetah and Chetak fleets, about 400 of which are due to retire.
The Defence Acquisition Council on Monday also cleared 200 light multirole helicopters for the two forces.
