Australia restricts foreign students from bringing family, tightens visa rules
- Australia will stop most international students from adding partners or children to their student visas.
- Families already attached to student visas in Australia will not be affected, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said.
- Exceptions will apply to some Pacific and Southeast Asian students and certain Doctor of Philosophy PhD courses.
- Australia wants to cut net overseas migration from 292,100 to 225,000, partly due to pressure on housing.
