Canada plans trade retaliation against US - But what can it do to put pressure
- Canada supplies the vast majority of US natural gas and electricity imports and about 60% of crude oil imports.
- It is also the largest customer for 26 US states - this is being looked at as an opportunity to provide it some leverage in the ongoing dispute.
- Most Canadian provinces already banned purchase of US alcohol. The Wine Institute called it the most significant market disruption in decades.
