Centre denies ordering merger of nine banks into SBI, PNB and Bank of Baroda
- Fake gazette dated September 15 claimed the Centre had approved a merger of nine public sector banks.
- It falsely said Indian Bank, Bank of Maharashtra and Central Bank of India would be merged into SBI.
- It also claimed three banks would merge into PNB and another three into Bank of Baroda.
- On September 16, PIB Fact Check said the document was fake and had not been issued by the Finance Ministry.
