Centre plans to reduce India’s visa categories from 13 to 9

• The Union Home Ministry plans to cut India’s main visa categories from 13 to 9, officials said on Wednesday.
A review of the Visa Manual, 2019 aims to make applying simpler and more user-friendly.
Visa sub-categories would fall from 49 to 23, and application form fields would be cut by 70%.
Officials said the changes are likely across all categories and sub-categories, in line with global norms.
