Centre to roll out Andhra’s 10% broken rice cap nationwide in October
- The Centre will adopt Andhra Pradesh’s policy limiting broken rice in Public Distribution System PDS supplies to 10% nationwide from October.
- Andhra introduced the policy as a pilot, aiming to improve rice consumption through fair-price shops.
- The Centre has also responded positively to subsidised onion sales in Andhra Pradesh at ₹32 per kg from next week.
- The state plans to sell onions through 115 Rythu Bazars and mobile counters, while expanding subsidised supplies of toor dal and palm oil.
