CM Vijay extends free bus travel to disabled people under the Vettri Payanam scheme
- Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s government extended the Vettri Payanam scheme to disabled people by an October 27 order.
- Persons with disabilities get a 100 per cent fare concession on showing a 16-digit Unique Disability ID card.
- Those unable to travel alone can take one escort, also free, and conductors will issue zero-fare tickets.
- The scheme covers city, town, express, deluxe and hill buses but not air-conditioned ones.
