Grammys may rethink the Asian Pop award after BTS walked away
- The Grammys created a Best Asian Pop Music Performance award in June, covering K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and Indian music.
- Eligibility rests on the language a song is sung in rather than where the artist comes from, which drew criticism at once.
- Then BTS refused to submit Arirang, an album largely in English, saying they wanted it judged as music rather than by region.
- Now the Academy is consulting artists, labels and managers across Asia, though the category still stands for 2027.
