Himachal Assembly adjourned in just 10 minutes over Vande Mataram row
- On August 21, the Himachal Pradesh Assembly’s Monsoon Session was adjourned within 10 minutes after a row over Vande Mataram.
- The BJP demanded that Vande Mataram be sung at the start of the session, immediately after the national anthem.
- Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said Assembly rules provide for Vande Mataram to be sung at the conclusion of the session, not the beginning.
- BJP MLAs raised slogans after rejecting the explanation, while Congress accused the Opposition of politicising national symbols.
