IAF pilot Abhinandan bids farewell as he joins private airline FLY-19
- Former IAF Group Captain and Vir Chakra awardee Abhinandan Varthaman joins regional airline FLY91 as a commercial pilot.
- Varthaman retired from the IAF after nearly 22 years of military service and joined FLY91 in August.
- He became widely known after the 2019 India-Pakistan aerial combat, when his MiG-21 was shot down and he was captured.
- Goa-based FLY91 began operations in 2024 and operates ATR 72-600 aircraft, with bases in Goa and Hyderabad.
