ICF Chennai to build 50 new Vande Bharat Sleeper trains
- Integral Coach Factory Chennai will build 50 new Vande Bharat Sleeper trainsets, each with 24 coaches, for Indian Railways’ long routes.
- Each 24-coach train is expected to carry about 1.5 times more passengers than the current 16-coach Vande Bharat Sleeper.
- ICF says production drawings are ready, covering coach structures, inter-coach systems and equipment under the coaches.
- More trainsets could expand services beyond Howrah–Kamakhya, while the final 24-coach composition is still unannounced.
