India calls UN racial discrimination panel’s remarks ‘politically motivated’
- India’s Ministry of External Affairs criticised the UN racial discrimination committee’s remarks on India, calling them “politically motivated” and “highly malicious.”
- The remarks came after the committee reviewed India’s record under a UN anti-racial discrimination treaty on August 11–12 in Geneva.
- The committee raised concerns about alleged discrimination against ethnic and religious groups, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and non-citizens.
- The MEA said India remains committed to fighting discrimination and will respond to the committee’s observations through the proper process.
