India-Russia talks: Jaishankar to tackle trade and payment bottlenecks
- Jaishankar will visit Moscow on August 23-24 to co-chair the 27th India-Russia trade and economic cooperation commission.
- The talks will focus on removing trade bottlenecks, stabilising payment mechanisms and deepening energy cooperation between the two countries.
- Jaishankar will also meet Foreign Minister Lavrov to discuss the Iran war, Ukraine conflict and the upcoming BRICS summit in New Delhi.
- India-Russia trade has grown 700% in five years — Russia is now India's largest oil supplier and both countries are building rupee-rouble payment systems.
