Former UGC chief backs reform, not replacement, of NTA
- Former UGC chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar said the National Testing Agency should be strengthened rather than replaced, with reforms aimed at restoring trust in major entrance exams.
- He said exam security must cover the entire chain, from question-setting and printing to storage, transport, exam centres, invigilation and digital systems, so leaks or manipulation are harder.
- Kumar wants four-level checks for question papers, fewer people handling them, and permanent cyber-security experts at NTA.
