India will not sign final US trade pact without tariff edge, says Commerce Minister
- India will finalise the proposed US trade deal only after securing a preferential tariff advantage over competing economies.
- Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said India wants better tariff terms to remain competitive with countries such as Vietnam, Thailand and Bangladesh.
- Goyal said India had secured favourable terms in sensitive sectors and would protect its key interests in the agreement.
- The India-US agreement would lower tariffs on Indian goods while opening greater access to US industrial and agricultural products.
