Karnataka group raises protein concerns over ISKCON hospital meals
- Drug Action Forum-Karnataka has urged the health department to stop ISKCON from supplying food at Government Wenlock Hospital.
- The Mangaluru hospital earlier served eggs and fish to about 700 patients daily, before switching to vegetarian meals in 2020.
- DAF-K raised concerns that ISKCON’s vegetarian and sattvik meals may not provide patients with adequate protein and nutrition.
- The forum called an exclusively vegetarian diet for patients needing balanced nutrition “unscientific and unwarranted”.
