Rajasthan HC bans junk food in schools and within 50 metres
- Rajasthan High Court on August 24 banned junk food sales in school canteens and within 50 metres of school gates across the state.
- The ban covers HFSS foods such as carbonated drinks, chips and bakery products containing trans fats.
- District Magistrates and Block Education Officers must conduct monthly inspections to ensure schools follow the order.
- Schools must create Food Safety and Nutrition Committees and display calorie, ingredient and nutrition details on menus.
