K'taka launches India's first QR code system for food and drug safety complaints
- Karnataka launched India's first QR code complaint system for food and drug safety on August 17 — a first for any Indian state.
- Citizens scan QR codes at restaurants and pharmacies to report unhygienic food, expired medicines and overpriced drugs — with photos and videos.
- The launch follows recent inspections that found 9 of 61 shawarma samples unsafe and fined highway dhabas Rs 3.67 lakh for violations.
- A dedicated toll-free number and call centre are coming next.
