Maldives clears final $50 million tranche of India’s $150 million loan
- The Maldives repaid India a $150-million loan, settling the final $50-million tranche on 17 September.
- MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India bore about $45 million in interest on the loan over five years.
- The treasury bills, subscribed by SBI in 2019, had been extended six times, each for a year.
- India has also extended a Rs 30-billion currency swap and subscribed to $350 million in bonds for the Maldives.
