Nearly 60% of Delhi’s environmental compensation fund remains unspent
- Delhi has collected ₹1,935.44 crore in Environmental Compensation Charge, but ₹1,153.93 crore remains unused.
- Only ₹781.51 crore has been spent, with much of it going towards major transport infrastructure projects.
- The biggest allocation was ₹500 crore for the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, sanctioned in May 2023.
- The Supreme Court has already asked Delhi to fully utilise the fund for long-term pollution-control measures.
