Nepal turns down India, China rescue teams asks for funds instead
- Nepal has rejected offers from India, China, the US, UK and other countries to send foreign search-and-rescue teams after the devastating floods.
- Kathmandu said its own security agencies have the capacity to handle rescue operations and cited coordination difficulties during the 2015 earthquake.
- At least 517 foreign nationals remain missing or out of contact, including 178 Indians, amid the ongoing rescue efforts.
- Instead of foreign rescue teams, Nepal has asked countries to provide financial assistance through the Prime Minister Relief Fund for rescue, relief and rehabilitation.
