FM Nirmala Sitharaman urged Tata Sons and Tata Trusts on Monday to settle their dispute privately.
Sitharaman called the matter delicate and a critical component of the Indian economy.
The two sides differ over the proposed listing of Tata Sons and Chandrasekaran staying as chairman.
Tata Trusts owns about 66% of Tata Sons, with the Shapoorji Pallonji Group on about 18.4%.
