Pilots’ body seeks oral-fluid tests under DGCA drug checks
- Federation of Indian Pilots FIP urged DGCA to add oral-fluid testing alongside existing urine-based drug screening for pilots.
- FIP also proposed raising annual random drug testing coverage for pilots from the current 10% to at least 20–25% annually.
- FIP said oral-fluid tests could support faster airport screening, while non-negative results should still be lab-confirmed.
- The proposal followed a recent Air India pilot drug-positive case that led the airline group to order tests for 5,000 pilots.
