Railway Board clears MRTS takeover by Chennai Metro
- The Railway Board has approved on August 19 the draft MoU for handing Chennai’s MRTS to Chennai Metro Rail Limited after a 15-year process.
- The agreement provides a 90-day handover period, followed by a two-year transition before Tamil Nadu fully takes charge.
- CMRL plans to improve station maintenance, accessibility and passenger experience once the MRTS takeover is completed.
