Railway Minister Vaishnaw announces Rs 2,009 crore bonus for railway staff ahead of Diwali
- Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Wednesday that the Cabinet has cleared a bonus of about Rs 2,009 crore for railway staff.
- Nearly 11.5 lakh employees will get a productivity-linked bonus equal to 78 days’ wages ahead of Diwali.
- He said the Railways has 1.65 lakh vacancies to fill and has given nearly 5.5 lakh jobs since 2014.
- The Cabinet also extended the social security net for weaker sections till 2031, with an outlay of Rs 53,428 crore.
