RTI reveals 8.23 lakh government jobs vacant across India, raising employment concerns
- An RTI response revealed that more than 8.23 lakh sanctioned government posts remain unfilled, indicating a significant.
- As of March 1, 2024, 30,99,556 employees were in position against a total sanctioned strength of 39,23,212 posts.
- The Defence Ministry reported 2,42,243 vacant posts, while the Railways accounted for 2,40,125 vacancies.
- Chandra Shekhar Gaur, the activist who filed the RTI, said the government should prioritise filling these vacancies.
