Survey finds high youth unemployment and education gaps across 250 districts
- The first district-level Periodic Labour Force Survey PLFS for 2025 found over 25% of youth are NEET in nearly 250 districts.
- The survey covered around 600 districts, with NEET meaning not in employment, education or training.
- The issue is prominent in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and West Bengal, where nearly two-thirds of districts are affected.
- In Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Assam and Telangana, nearly half of districts have at least 25% youth classified as NEET.
