Tamil Nadu CM Vijay announces ₹20,800-crore thermal power station in Thoothukudi
- Tamil Nadu will set up a 1,600 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Thoothukudi at ₹20,800 crore.
- The state will build a new ₹1,762-crore electricity corridor to address power outages in Chennai.
- Another ₹1,550-crore power corridor is planned as Tamil Nadu works to strengthen its transmission network.
- The government is also exploring battery storage to save surplus power and use it during periods of high demand.
