Tamil Nadu to ban Ganesh idol immersion at two Chennai beaches from 2027
- Tamil Nadu assured the NGT that Ganesh idol immersion will be banned at two Chennai beaches from next year.
- The state also aims to stop idol immersion in natural water bodies statewide from 2027, as per court and NGT rules.
- The Chennai Corporation proposed shifting idols from Palavakkam to Kovalam and Pattinapakkam to Ennore instead.
- The NGT asked the state to file an affidavit detailing measures, adjourning the matter for further hearing.
