US runs secret oil corridor through Strait of Hormuz
- Hormuz has been effectively shut since February, choking off a fifth of the world's oil and gas.
- But US forces have quietly reopened a southern lane along Oman's coast, two US officials told Axios on Wednesday.
- Each night 15 to 20 tankers move through it under fighter cover, watched for drones and missiles.
- That is about 10 million barrels a day, roughly half of what flowed before the war began.
