WhatsApp's new Restricted Chat feature blocks media downloads and Meta AI
- WhatsApp has started rolling out Restricted Chat to selected beta users on Android and iOS.
- The feature is optional and can be turned on manually for individual conversations from the chat info screen.
- Restricted Chats block automatic media saving, chat exports, Meta AI features and linked-device access.
- Messages and calls still remain end-to-end encrypted, and WhatsApp has not announced a full public rollout date yet.
