World Bank in talks with 30–40 countries on aid over energy shocks
- World Bank President Ajay Banga said the bank is in talks with 30 to 40 countries on crisis aid over war-linked energy shocks.
- Banga said few countries sought the first $25 billion, but diesel and fertiliser price spikes may bring more requests.
- He said the bank could raise crisis funds to $100 billion if the situation worsens, above the $70 billion used in the pandemic.
- The bank drew a record $112 billion in private capital in the year to June, up from $69 billion a year earlier.
