$44.9 billion in a week sends India’s forex reserves to record high
- India’s forex reserves jumped a record $44.90 billion in the week ended September 4, reaching $785.71 billion.
- Foreign currency assets, the biggest part of the reserves, rose $47.50 billion to $648.17 billion during the week.
- The rise came after RBI measures to boost foreign-currency inflows, which have attracted more than $136 billion since June.
- Gold reserves fell $2.59 billion to $113.82 billion, while India’s forex stockpile has risen for 10 straight weeks.
