Annapurni Subramaniam is first Indian woman to win COSPAR Vikram Sarabhai Medal
- Annapurni Subramaniam won the COSPAR Vikram Sarabhai Medal 2026, becoming the first Indian woman and fourth Indian ever to receive it.
- She received the honour at the 46th COSPAR Scientific Assembly in Florence on August 3, for her contributions to space research and AstroSat.
- Subramaniam, born in Palakkad, Kerala, directs the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bengaluru.
- She is the third woman globally to win the medal, which has been jointly awarded by COSPAR and ISRO every two years since 1990.
