Assam coaching centres face new safety and mental health rules
- Assam approved on August 18 new rules requiring private coaching institutes with 50 or more students to register with authorities.
- Registered institutes must renew approval annually and submit certificates showing compliance with building safety norms.
- Coaching centres must follow student mental health safeguards and provide proof that they have engaged a qualified counsellor.
- Institutes must also meet National Building Code rules and follow AICTE and UGC standards wherever they are applicable.
